Septemberdans 2009
New dance, playful choreographers and big experiences. This is what Septemberdans is all about.
In this 2009 addition, we offer three world premiers from three choreographers.
Jo Strømgren is a multi-talented artist and one of Norway’s cultural exports. He is also the man behind the unique, changeable and nonsensical Kaudervelsk-language, the Jo Strømgren Company, and excellent performances such as The Orchestra, The Convent, and A Dance Tribute to the Art of Football. This will be the third time he has created dance for the National Ballet. We do not know what he will bring, only that it will be danced to Bach, and will probably be very good.
The two other choreographers are Alan Lucien Øyen from Bergen, Norway, and Andreas Heise from Germany. They are both dancers who create works with lots of emotion and a touch of the theatrical.
The inventive Øyen is, according to himself, engrossed in film, and this time he will choreograph dance to sentimental film music by Thomas Newman. Heise’s family-dance-drama will be danced to grand music by amongst others Piaf, Wagner and Mozart. Everything has been done to make sure this will be an exciting evening of dance. All you have to do is come along!
