Fantomats

Sculpture - installations, formed by seven ‘soul and slot machines’ – humanoid sculptures with plasma eyes that show humorous glimpses of the Black Sea landscape. Situated in public places, the Fantomats mark the citizens’ paths and reflect on an over- commercialised public space.

More about Fantomat
The idea for Fantomat came during a trip to Skegness where the artists experienced numerous people spending their entire day in front of the slot-machines – one person in front of one machine, carrying out repetitive motions, in silence, not communicating with other people.
The Fantomat is a machine that wants to be a human being. It offers a human experience meeting our need for contemplation and relaxation that contrasts the hectic urban life and commercialised public spaces.
